Budget Analysis & Revisions
Every program (grant) has an annual operating budget that reflects ongoing program expenses. This budget includes all revenue and expenses related to the program, and it spans a specific period of time – the organization’s program year (PY); and in some cases its fiscal year (FY). In addition, when there's a capital budget involved (for facilities) for a new space or renovating an existing one, there's a further need for attentive analysis. Both, operating and supplemental, budgets require a great degree of astute planning, communication, financial control and oversight.

The more clear, accurate, and well-thought-out budgets are in the beginning, the more likely you will be able to –
- Adjust plans, activities, and spending
- Spend money cost-effectively
- Produce defined outcomes from goals
- Strengthen internal control systems
There's always a need to build capacity in budgeting; whether its learning to capture financial metrics, understand the relationship between financial statements and the budget, or analyzing the resulting data (e.g. key ratios).
Growth
Budgeting should be more than just "a plan". It should be a tool for realizing growth. Specifically, community-action and non-profit grantees benefit from "mindful-budgeting". Budgeting with an intention towards growth and non-reliance on discretionary funding is the direction of the future. Let us demonstrate the "how".

Approval
The more clear, accurate, and well-thought-out budgets are in the beginning, the more likely you will be able to glide through to approval. However, it's important to always build-in contingencies that allow one to adjust plans, expand activities, and conduct revisions when required.
